A plastic free water bottle should keep plastic away from your water: no plastic body, no plastic cap, no plastic lining. Each Neera bottle is hand-hammered from 99.9% pure copper, inside and out, and closes with a threaded copper cap.

What plastic free means here
- Body: over 99.9% copper in an SGS lab test.
- Inside: bare copper. No lacquer, no epoxy, no plastic film.
- Cap: threaded copper, closes in one twist.
- The one exception: a thin silicone seal inside the cap that keeps it leak-resistant. It doesn't sit in the water.
Many "copper" bottles are lined inside, so the water never touches the metal. When we cut open nine cheap copper bottles, six were lined.

Copper is not inert: a trace moves into water that rests in it. In a 2012 lab study, water kept 16 hours in copper had about 0.18 mg of copper per liter, under the WHO guideline of 2 mg. More in is it safe to drink from a copper bottle every day.
How to use it
- Plain, still water at room temperature or cool.
- No lemon, juice, hot or fizzy drinks.

Is a copper water bottle plastic free?
Neera's body and cap are copper and the inside is unlined. The only non-copper part is a thin silicone seal inside the cap. Many cheaper copper bottles have a plastic or lacquer lining, so check the inside with a phone light.
Is copper a non toxic water bottle material?
For plain, cool water and most healthy adults, yes. A trace of copper moves into the water, well under the WHO guideline in lab tests. People with Wilson's disease or advice to limit copper should ask their doctor first.
Can I put ice water in it?
Cool water is fine, but the bottle is single-wall, so it won't keep water cold and the outside may sweat.
Is it dishwasher safe?
No. Wash it by hand and clean the inside with lemon juice and salt about once a week.
