Every Neera is solid copper with no plating, lining or coating, and an independent SGS lab test measured over 99.9% copper. Two quick checks at home: a magnet will not stick to it, as it would to plated steel, and the inside darkens within a week or two of daily use, which a lacquered or lined bottle never does. Each piece is shaped and hammered by hand, so small variations in shape and surface are part of its character. If anything on your Neera looks wrong, send us a photo and we will help.

Darkening and green spots are both natural: real copper reacting with water, moisture and air. Green is copper oxidation, not mold, and it is a sign of genuine, bare copper. To bring back the shine, swirl a tablespoon of lemon juice or tamarind with a teaspoon of salt inside for two minutes, rinse until the water runs clear and dry it with a soft cloth. Clean any green away before the next fill.

Because every bottle is handcrafted, the threads and the seal can need a short break-in period. Press down evenly on the cap and twist it slowly so the threads find their path, and make sure the seal sits completely flat inside the cap. Closed snugly, the cap is leak-resistant.

We recommend room-temperature or cool water and no fridge or freezer. For a chilled drink, fill it with cool water right before you head out. Never freeze it: water expands as it freezes and can deform the handcrafted copper.
