An Ayurvedic copper water bottle lets plain water rest against bare copper overnight, the way Ayurveda describes storing drinking water. Every Neera bottle is hammered by hand in India from 99.9% pure copper and left unlined inside, so the water touches the metal, not a coating.

  • 34 oz (1 liter), single-twist copper cap
  • Unlined inside: no lacquer, no plastic film
  • Free shipping, leaves within 1-2 business days from the US

How to use it the Ayurvedic way

  1. Fill the bottle with plain, cool water in the evening.
  2. Let it rest 6-8 hours, usually overnight.
  3. Drink it in the morning, then empty and refill each day.

This is Tamra Jal, Sanskrit for "copper water". The full guide: how to drink water from a copper vessel. For amounts and timing, see how much copper water to drink per day.

Why the inside must be bare copper

The practice depends on water touching copper. Many bottles sold as copper are lined with steel, coated with lacquer or only plated on the outside, and none of those make Tamra Jal. We cut open nine copper bottles to show the difference.

Made by hand in India

Storing water in copper comes from the Ayurvedic tradition of India, and that is where each Neera bottle is shaped and hammered by hand. The hammer marks vary slightly from one bottle to the next.

What research supports

In a 2012 lab study, water stored 16 hours in copper pots had no recoverable disease-causing bacteria and about 0.18 mg of copper per liter, well under the WHO guideline of 2 mg. Traditional claims such as balancing the doshas have not been tested in people. More in copper water bottle benefits: the evidence.
