Every Neera set is handcrafted in India, so dimensions can vary by 2-5%. An independent SGS test report (MAN:HL:1748000853, April 2026) confirmed over 99.9% copper by ICP-OES on a sample bottle.

Is it safe?

Yes, for healthy adults using plain still water. Neera bottles and tumblers are solid copper with no lining, plating or coating, and an independent SGS test report on a sample bottle measured over 99.9% copper.

Here is what you need to know:
✓ Solid copper inside and out: no lining, no plating, no lacquer
✓ Use plain still water, room temperature or cool: tap, filtered or still mineral water
✓ Fill in the evening, drink the next day, and never keep the same water longer than 24 hours
✓ Not for hot, sparkling or acidic drinks: no coffee, tea, juice or lemon water
✓ Hand wash only: rinse with warm water, and clean with lemon juice and salt every week or two
✓ No dishwasher, fridge or freezer
✓ Darkening over time is natural patina, the sign of bare copper, not damage. Green or blue deposits mean it needs a lemon-and-salt clean before the next fill
✓ A faint copper taste is normal for some people, especially in the first few fills

What Can I Expect?

A morning ritual you will look forward to:
✓ Fill it in the evening and wake up to water that has rested in copper overnight, the way Ayurveda has practiced it for centuries
✓ The cool, solid weight of hand-hammered copper in your hand, every single day
✓ A bottle that is yours alone: every hammer mark is made by hand, so no two Neera bottles share a pattern
✓ A finish that deepens month by month into a warm, natural patina, the story of your daily ritual
✓ A piece that earns its place on your desk, in your bag and on your nightstand, and ages beautifully instead of wearing out

Neera brings the ancient Ayurvedic tradition of tamra jal into modern life: a small, deliberate pause that turns plain water into a ritual.

Our Promise To You

For centuries, families across India have kept their drinking water in copper overnight. In Ayurveda it is called tamra jal. The tradition holds that copper water balances the three doshas, vata, pitta and kapha, and classical texts name copper as the vessel of choice for drinking water. Neera exists to bring that ritual into modern life, made the honest way.

✓   Real copper, nothing hidden: solid, unlined copper inside and out, backed by an independent SGS lab test

✓   Made by hand, made to last: every Neera is shaped and hammered by artisans in India, built to age beautifully for years, not to be replaced

✓   The ritual, made simple: fill it in the evening and drink in the morning, the way Ayurvedic practice recommends, after 6 to 8 hours or overnight

✓   A daily pause you will look forward to: a slower, more deliberate start to the morning and a bottle you reach for because you want to

✓   Free US shipping: every order ships free from our US warehouse and arrives in 3-5 business days

✓   Real people behind every order: we are a brand, and if anything is not right when your Neera arrives, we will make it right, no run-around, no hassle

We share the Ayurvedic tradition as it has been handed down.

I started leaving this filled overnight on my nightstand and drinking it first thing in the morning. Three weeks in and I'm genuinely drinking more water than I ever have. Something about having it visible and beautiful makes me actually reach for it. I've tried apps, reminders, nothing worked like this.

Elizabeth, apps ask for your attention. A beautiful object simply earns it. We are glad yours waits on the nightstand each night and is the first thing you reach for in the morning.

Three weeks is when a habit starts to feel like yours. May it stay that way.

With warm regards,
Neera Living

I have never liked water. I know that sounds ridiculous but it's true. My whole life I drank coffee, tea, juice, anything with flavor. Plain water felt like a punishment. I was always mildly dehydrated and just accepted it as my personality. My roommate got this bottle and left it on the kitchen counter. I picked it up one morning when I was half asleep and drank from it before I realized what I was doing. And it was fine. Actually fine. Not a chore.I thought maybe I was just thirsty. But the next morning I reached for it again on purpose. Something about the weight of it, the temperature, the way it feels in your hand makes the whole experience feel worth doing. I cannot explain the logic. I just know I went from someone who genuinely disliked water to someone who fills a copper bottle every night and looks forward to it in the morning. My skin is clearer. My energy is more even through the day. I stopped getting headaches that I used to get every few days without connecting them to anything. A friend pointed out I seem less irritable and I had to admit she was probably right. I ordered my own bottle two weeks after my roommate got hers. Best decision I made all year.

Emma, this made our whole week.

'Plain water felt like a punishment' to 'looks forward to it every morning' is exactly the shift we hope for, and you said it better than we ever could. You picked it up half asleep and it simply felt right. That is the part we obsess over: the weight in your hand, the cool hammered surface, a bottle that feels like someone made it, because someone did.

Filling copper at night and reaching for it first thing is one of the oldest rituals there is, and now it is yours. Your roommate clearly has excellent taste.

Thank you for taking the time to share this. Here's to many more mornings.

I first drank copper water at an Ayurvedic retreat in Costa Rica two years ago. The practitioner there explained the tradition, water stored overnight in copper ionizes slightly, becomes alkaline, and in Ayurveda it's considered one of the simplest ways to support digestion and balance Vata. I felt noticeably different that week. Lighter. Less bloated after meals. Clearer in the morning. I came home and bought a cheap copper bottle online. It tasted metallic and felt flimsy. I gave up after a week. Then I found Neera. The quality difference is immediate , no metallic taste, solid construction, actually pleasant to drink from. I started with just the bottle. After two months I ordered the Ritual Set because I wanted to gift my sister something that would actually stick, not a cheap version that would discourage her. She's been doing the morning practice for four months now. Her chronic constipation, which she'd had for a decade, has improved significantly. She's convinced it's the copper water. Her gastroenterologist said keep doing whatever you're doing. What I can say is that this practice, with a bottle you actually love using, changes things.

What a journey, from a retreat in Costa Rica to your sister's kitchen. Thank you for sharing it.

The flimsy bottle that made you give up after a week is the story we hear most often, and it is the reason Neera exists. Every bottle is hand-hammered from solid, unlined copper, so it feels substantial in your hand and becomes something you actually want to reach for.

And you are right: a ritual only works if you keep coming back to it. Choosing the Ritual Set for your sister, so her first copper bottle would be one she loves, is one of the most thoughtful gifts we have heard of. Four months of mornings says it all.

Please give her our warmest regards. Here's to many more mornings, for both of you.

My wife has been into Ayurveda for years and kept talking about copper water. I thought it was another wellness trend I'd hear about for two weeks and forget. She ordered the bottle for herself. I kept stealing it in the mornings because it was sitting on the counter and I was too lazy to get a glass. After about a month I noticed I was sleeping better and my afternoon energy crashes weren't as bad. I don't know if it's the copper or just finally drinking water consistently, but something shifted. My wife noticed I stopped complaining about being tired by 3pm. She ordered the Ritual Set so I could have the tumbler and stop stealing her bottle. Now we both have our morning routine. I fill both overnight, we drink together before coffee. It sounds small but it's become the quietest, nicest part of our day. I went from eye-rolling to genuinely protective of this routine. Didn't expect a water bottle to do that.

From eye-rolling to protective of the routine: we may need to frame this one.

Stealing your wife's bottle every morning because it was right there on the counter is honestly how most great rituals start. Not with a plan, just with a habit that quietly sticks. And the Ritual Set solving a very real household dispute might be our favorite use of it yet.

Filling both overnight and drinking together before coffee is exactly what we hoped these pieces would become: not another thing on the counter, but a small moment that belongs to the two of you.

Thank you for sharing this, and please tell your wife she was right all along.

I had my second baby eight months ago and somewhere in the newborn fog I completely stopped taking care of myself. No water, no routines, nothing. A friend sent me this bottle with a note that said: start here. The first morning I filled it and drank it before the kids woke up, just five quiet minutes, I cried. Not because of the copper. Because I did one thing for myself. I kept the practice. Every morning, copper water before anything else. My milk supply improved, my skin stopped looking gray, my headaches that I'd written off as 'just motherhood' mostly disappeared. My midwife asked what I changed. I've bought this as a gift for four new moms since. I always include the same note: start here.

Start here. We have read those two words many times since your review came in.

Five quiet minutes before the kids wake up, and one thing you did just for you. That is what this was always meant to be. Not a big change, just a small, steady moment that belongs to you in a season when almost nothing does.

And then you passed it on, four times, with the same note. Your friend started something beautiful, and you kept it going. Every new mom who gets one of those bottles is lucky to have you.

Thank you for trusting us with something this personal. Sending you and your little ones our warmest wishes.

My 9 year old refused to drink water. Only juice, only flavored drinks. I started leaving my copper bottle on the counter and she kept asking to drink from it said it felt special. Within a week she was drinking plain water without any negotiation.I originally bought just the bottle for myself. But once I saw how much she loved it, I ordered the Ritual Set so she could have the bottle for school in her backpack, and at home she drinks from the copper tumbler. Now she has 'her copper cup' at home and 'her copper bottle' for school and she tells every kid in her class about her magic copper water from India. I never thought a water bottle would solve a problem I'd been fighting for two years. Do what works.

A nine-year-old who now asks for plain water, keeps 'her copper cup' at home and 'her copper bottle' in her backpack, and tells her whole class about it. Two years of negotiations, solved by something that simply felt special to hold. Thank you for sharing this, and please tell her she is officially our youngest ambassador.

My skin has been dull for years and I've spent a fortune on serums. After 6 weeks of morning copper water I'm getting compliments I haven't heard since my twenties. Is it the copper? The hydration? My new consistent routine? Probably the combination. But this bottle is the thing that made all of it actually happen.

'This bottle is the thing that made all of it actually happen.' That line means more to us than any five stars.

So many good intentions never survive a busy week. What you built is a routine that stuck: six weeks of mornings, one bottle waiting for you every day. That is the part we design for. Something solid and beautiful enough on the counter that reaching for it becomes the easy choice.

Thank you for sharing this, and here's to keeping that morning ritual for many years to come.

Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know

What should I do before the first use?

Rinse the inside with warm water, then do one lemon-and-salt wash inside and out and rinse until the water runs clear. Fill it with plain water, let it stand overnight and pour that first fill out. A brand-new, freshly polished surface gives a stronger taste than a settled one; from the second fill on, drink as usual.

Will it dent if I drop it?

Copper is softer than steel, so a drop onto a hard floor can leave a mark. Hand-hammering stiffens the wall and hides small marks, and the Neera Canvas Bottle Bag protects it on the go. A few marks only add to the character of a handmade piece.

Is 9 oz too light for solid copper?

No. The weight of a copper bottle comes from the thickness of the sheet, not the purity of the metal. At about 9 oz for 34 oz of water, Neera is in the normal range for a hand-formed, single-wall copper bottle, and light enough to carry all day. A heavier copper bottle is thicker, not purer.

Copper or stainless steel: which should I choose?

They do different jobs. Stainless steel is insulated, takes any drink and goes in the dishwasher. Neera is single-wall bare copper made for plain still water and the evening-to-morning ritual, washed by hand, and it ages with a patina instead of wearing out. Keep your steel tumbler for coffee; Neera is for your water.

Is it normal for my bottle to turn green? Is it mold?

It is not mold. Green spots are copper oxidation: real copper reacting with moisture and air, the same natural process that turns copper roofs and statues green. It is one of the clearest signs that your bottle is genuine, bare copper. Before the next fill, clean the green away with lemon juice and salt, rinse until the water runs clear and let the bottle dry fully.
